HOW WE WORK
We don’t answer the brief. We interrogate it.
We are not a consultancy you commission to confirm what you already think. We help you develop policy that delivers intended impact in the real world. We challenge assumptions, offer different perspectives and trace consequences to enable you to better anticipate risk and opportunity.
Most sector advisers respond to a brief. We start by asking whether the brief is right. Rethink Creative is most valuable at moments of genuine strategic importance — when the stakes are high enough that getting it wrong matters, and when there is appetite, even if uncomfortable, for honest challenge.
That includes: designing or reviewing a funding strategy; assessing the likely impact of a new policy before it goes live; stress-testing an existing approach that isn’t delivering as expected; preparing for a significant change — technological, structural or political; and sense-checking the conclusions of a conventional consultancy report before acting on them.
That means we work differently from the outset. Before we engage with solutions, we ask three questions:
Is this the right question? Briefs are shaped by existing assumptions, institutional habits and the perspectives already in the room. We examine those before the work begins.
Who is missing? The most important voice in any policy or strategy process is often the one that isn’t there — the participant in the ecosystem whose interests or experience nobody has accounted for.
Where does this actually land? Good intentions produce poor outcomes when the second and third-order consequences haven’t been traced. We follow the logic through the ecosystem before the decision is made.
This is what we mean by being a challenge partner rather than a consultancy. We are not here to validate. We are here to help you make decisions that hold up in the real world.
